MY CONSULTATION

What Can I expect from my consultation?

When you visit Dr. Carson for your new patient dental evaluation, we will schedule an appointment at a time that is convenient for you. During your exam, we will review your dental history, perform a full examination, and discuss your issues and concerns as well as all treatment options.
Part of your visit will include taking an inventory of the current condition of your teeth and oral health. The dental assistant will take necessary imaging and Dr. Carson will carefully review your mouth to assess your risk of tooth decay and discuss treatment options with you. After you have your checkup and evaluation, the office will also schedule you for your separate cleaning appointment.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer screenings are a very important part of the dental visit for the patient. With the advances in modern technology, we are now able to pinpoint the start of a potential problem much earlier in its evolution. The ability to do so is extremely important in being able to treat any issues before they becoming a major irreversible problem.

The oral cancer screening is often completed with an ultraviolet light or similar device that allows us to view issues that can’t always be detected by the human eye under normal conditions.

Certain lifestyle choices can have a great impact on the health of tissues and your overall health in the mouth. If you are a smoker or heavy drinker, make sure to get regular screenings when you visit the dentist.
